Local animals and birds are racing along the panels of this bus shelter--maybe to catch the bus, or to get to work. They are running through a mash up of local flora, including milkweed, goldenrod and purple coneflower. Everyone except fro the coyote--he is watching.
The idea behind this mural was twofold: first, to highlight the local animals who share the road with us, and second, to show movement and the energy of a faster commute in the rapid bus lane.
This was a temporary installation from October through December 2018.
"The Commute" was commissioned by Arlington Public Art in cooperation with the Boston Rapid Transit initiative in Arlington.
